This particular race may not be getting a lot of attention in light of more high profile races, however, as the Portland Mercury pointed out, Metro’s work is “increasingly relevant to life in Portland. Metro has recently taken on the political role of tackling regional problems. The Portland Metro Council is the only governing body of its kind in the United States. The council is in charge of land use, transportation, and environmental stewardship for our tri-county region.”
